Department is a festival for electronic music, founded in 2017. In addition to offering the best in swinging electronic music, they promote sustainability and equality. Every year, the festival gathers around 6,000 people in the same place for two packed days, at Långholmen in Stockholm. Over the years, artists such as Four Tet, Bicep, Fatima Osman, Princess Nokia, Tale Of Us, Röyksopp, MOLØ, and many more, have been on their stages.

‍After long careers in the music industry, Karl Törnros and Calle Dernulf decided in 2016 to create a stage for Swedish and international electronic music. They envisioned a modern festival with the best genre artists and sustainability as a guiding light. Karl is the founder of Monstera Agency & promoters, one of Sweden's leading live music companies. He has extensive experience in booking artists in electronic music, including Four Tet, Bicep, Justice, and Jon Hopkins. He has also worked with artists like Frida Hyvönen, José Gonzáles, David Sandström, and I'm From Barcelona and co-founded the festival Dans Dakar. Calle is a music journalist and DJ, passionate about the electronic music scene. For over 20 years, he hosted and produced the programs P3 Dans and P3 Klubb on Swedish Radio P3, where he also interviewed creators and key people worldwide. In addition to being involved in running Department, he shares the story in the podcast Musik & Dernulf.
